| At the last SLIC meeting over at the Hanson's, James and I were debating over how their touch sensitive lamp worked. You know, the kind that you touch it and it turns on! James noted that when he slowly pressed the lamp it didn't turn on. Maybe it's because James has such a sensitive touch.
Anyway, check this website out. It has the answers. http://home.howstuffworks.com/question42.htm
There's a ton of other cool stuff too.
| What do you think of this quote made by Australian teenagers? Is it true? Do you observe this in American teenagerism? Do you think your own faith is consumeristic?
"TEENAGERS no longer fear the existence of God, believing instead that a higher power is more like a "butler", to be called on whenever they are in strife.
Results of a phone poll of 809 young Australians, to be presented at a Salvation Army conference in Sydney today, show the consumerist attitudes of teenagers extend beyond mobile phones and iPods to religion. "

| Hey all,
We had a great Famine this past weekend. Thanks to Abby and Sarah for putting it together, to all the SLIC (Shelia, Tim, Amanda, Tabor, Annika, James, Abby, Ryan) students who called people and helped serve. Thanks to the staff that stayed over night and helped, and drove, and to all you students that raised money. Thanks Starla for the great meal! Thanks Chinese Faith Baptist Church for worship and a great partnership in serving! Thank you Jr. Highers for serving hard and being such a great blessing!
In Jesus,
Steve

| Now that you know that we are leaving, Bev and I want all you C4ers to know that it's been such an honor and a privilege to be able to be a part of your lives. We've been through great times and some rough times and through it all, you've been Jesus to us.
I've seen Jesus' service, his love, his weeping, his laughter, his mercy, his hands and feet, his anger, his sacrifice, his compassion, his friendship, and so much more through you. Thanks for loving us as he loved you.
Over the next months, we hope to have some good personal times with all of you. If you have questions or thoughts or hurts or ideas, please come to us or email us. We covet your feedback.
Also, be praying for the youth ministry leadership team to form, that God would raise up just the right people.
Love,
Steve

| My Dad's name was Arthur Hideo Yoshioka. What I appreciated about him was that he was amazingly creative. He could make something out of anything. He gave me a love for sports and for skiing. He was spontaneous, gentle, and hard working. He loved adventure. He loved to build things. He loved the church. He went to be with the Lord on January 20th, 2004. I miss him.

Here's dad with mom and the blueprint that he created to propose to my mom (he was an architect)
My other dad's name is Dr. Takashi Manago. He's Bev's dad and now my dad. He was born on January 20th. He is incredibly generous, hard working, and caring. He is a fantastic gardener, his front yard has hedges that are shaped into things like waves, a snowman, a shaka sign (the hang loose sign), it's like Edward Scissorhands with hedges and shrubs. He's a family man, and a dentist. He's also been dad or otosan (dad in Japanese) to me, Bev's brother and sister's spouses, all of us have lost our father. It's amazing how God has done this and provided for us another great example of a dad.
Jane and Taka Manago
Don't forget to tell your loved ones you love 'em.
